The IAC - International Association for Counselling is an International Non-Governmental Association (NGO) with United Nations consultative status working to advance the development of counselling through practice, education, research, and advocacy initiatives
The IAC - International Association for Counselling holds a United Nations consultative status (ECOSOC, WHO, UNESCO, and ILO). IAC advances the development of counselling in order to improve people’s lives and well-being with the vision of achieving a world where counselling is available to all.
Counselling changes lives for the better and reduces suffering. IAC’s humanitarian movement advocates for more access to counselling worldwide. IAC lobbies and influences governments and international organisations to have counselling better recognised as a profession. In some countries there is no counselling at all. IAC helps to establish counselling structures, (e.g. National Associations or Education Programmes) in those countries.
IAC membership is open to groups (Associations, Education Institutes, and Services), and Individuals supporting the development of counselling worldwide.
The IAC - International Association for Counselling certification is awarded to education programmes/courses from IAC Education Institute members, in recognition of a validated commitment to raising counselling standards through: international learning and exchange, the promotion of cross-cultural awareness in counselling and respect for diversity.
In 2020, Bircham International University became a member of the IAC - International Association for Counselling in order to promote and endorse the advancement of the counselling profession worldwide among our graduates.
