The Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC, University of San Carlos of Guatemala) is the biggest and oldest university of Guatemala founded in 1676 by Royal Decree of the King of Spain Carlos II.
The Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC, University of San Carlos of Guatemala) is the biggest and oldest university of Guatemala founded in 1676 by Royal Decree of the King of Spain Carlos II.
USAC - Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala is also the fourth founded in the Americas. It is considered the most prestigious institution of higher education Central America, and the only one in Guatemala until 1954, acting still today as policy maker of the Ministry of Education in Guatemala.
In 2010 the USAC - University San Carlos of Guatemala signed a recognition agreement with Bircham International University.
USAC - University San Carlos of Guatemala considered that the innovative and updated program curriculum and pedagogical approach of Bircham International University can embed flexibility to the solid and traditional structure of the USAC and turn USAC postgraduate programs into a more updated and professionally oriented degree programs.
According to the USAC - University San Carlos of Guatemala professors and dean, Bonerge Amilcar Mejia Orellana, Rene Arturo Villegas Lara and Jose Gilberto Guirola Rosales, it was the first time in its history that the USAC - University San Carlos of Guatemala signs an agreement with a foreign independent educational institution like Bircham International University has been entitled by the Faculty of Law of the USA to develop a joint design, promotion and degree (validated by both BIU and USAC) of some postgraduate programs.
This agreement was reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Education of Guatemala.

Es una nueva contribución al futuro de Guatemala como la que ya publiqué en mi libro: “Una Nueva política urbana para la ciudad de Guatemala: perspectiva urbana en el contexto de la globalización”. NOTA: El Dr. Jose Gilberto Guirola Rosales falleció en el año 2010. DEP (Descanse en Paz).
