AIESAD, the Iberoamerican Association of Distance Higher Education - Asociación Iberoamericana de Educación Superior a Distancia was founded as an initiative of the Dean of Research & Internationalization from the UNED, the Spain National University of Distance Learning.
AIESAD, the Iberoamerican Association of Distance Higher Education - Asociación Iberoamericana de Educación Superior a Distancia was founded as an initiative of the Dean of Research & Internationalization from the UNED, the Spain National University of Distance Learning.
AIESAD was founded in 1980 resulting from the collaboration of the most prominent distance education universities from Iberoamérica, which includes Central and South America as well as the Iberian peninsula, in other words, all the Spanish speaking countries. Those universities were: Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (Spain), Universidad Estatal a Distancia (Costa Rica), Universidad Nacional Abierta (Venezuela), Universidad de la Sabana (Bogotá, Colombia), Universidad de Brasilia (Brazil), and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
The mission of AIESAD is to significantly contribute to the education quality, academic excellence, innovation and internationalization of distance learning higher education institutions. The members of AIESAD constitute the paramount reference for distance learning higher education in Spanish language.
